Executive Summary
This 2021 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) Technical Report outlines the design and operational parameters for the Diablillos Project, focusing on an open-pit mining operation with an associated ore processing plant. The study selected a throughput rate of 7,000 tonnes per day (tpd), representing an increase from the 2018 PEA’s 6,000 tpd, to optimize financial returns based on additional mineral resource material identified through recent drilling programs. The project is currently in the development stage, with the design basis accounting for 350 days of operation per annum.
The processing plant design features a conventional silver/gold flowsheet incorporating crushing, grinding, cyanide leaching, and Merrill-Crowe recovery. A key design decision was the selection of a Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) circuit over a three-stage crushing and ball milling option, chosen for its ability to handle the expected range of ore types. The plant includes a SABC circuit (SAG and Ball mills with pebble crushing), agitated cyanide leaching with oxygen addition, and a Counter Current Decantation (CCD) washing circuit. Precious metals are recovered via zinc precipitation and smelted on-site to doré bars, with tailings treated for cyanide detoxification before permanent disposal.
