Grasberg Mine Mineral Processing Circuit

Grasberg Mine, located in Indonesia, operates one of the largest and most complex mineral processing circuits in the world. The processing plant includes primary crushing followed by a semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill and a ball mill to reduce the ore to a fine consistency. The next stage involves flotation, where copper and gold concentrates are recovered. These concentrates are thickened and filtered for shipment. Flotation tailings are transferred to a cyanide leaching plant, where additional gold is recovered. The leach residue is detoxified to meet environmental standards before disposal.
