Executive Summary
The ESM deposits are processed at the existing ESM concentrator, originally commissioned in 1970 and last shut down in 2008. Following a refurbishment in late 2017, the concentrator resumed processing mineralization in 2018. The facility includes crushing, grinding, sequential lead and zinc flotation circuits, concentrate dewatering circuits, and loadout facilities.
The design capacity of the concentrator is 5,000 t/d, though underground mine production typically limits input to no more than 1,400 t/d. The operating strategy involves running the concentrator at 200 t/h to 220 t/h for eight to 10 hours per day, four days per week. This intermittent operation results in weekly processing volumes between 6,500 to 7,000 tons.
Metallurgical stability is a consideration due to the non-continuous operation, which introduces instability during start-up and shutdown. The flowsheet for the current operation includes a lead circuit, with recommendations provided for work prior to re-starting the concentrator to ensure optimal performance.
