Lamêlée Project — 2014 Technical Report

Company Lamêlée Iron Ore Ltd.
Date 2014-12-19
Commodities Iron

Executive Summary

The Lamêlée Project is a iron ore development project located in Quebec, Canada. The PEA evaluates the production of 5 million tonnes per year (MTPY) of iron concentrate with a target iron grade of 64.3% and silica content of 4.5%. The project is based on processing Magnetite-Hematite Iron Formation (MHIF) which comprises 93% of the ore body, with minor contributions from Magnetite Iron Formation (MIF) at 3% and Hematite Iron Formation (HIF) at 4%. The iron feed grade is 29.7% with an overall plant weight recovery of 36.3% and iron recovery of 78.4%.

The process flow sheet consists of primary gyratory crushing, autogenous (AG) grinding, classification screening, gravity separation using rougher spirals, cleaner hydrosizers, and scavenger spirals, followed by concentrate filtration using pan filters. The project design incorporates a 10% design factor to accommodate variations in ore properties. The QPyrxM (Quartz-Pyroxene-Magnetite) lithology, representing 175 Mt of material, is currently considered waste but represents a potential future processing opportunity through magnetic separation.

Key Parameters

Processing Overview

The concentrator utilizes a conventional iron ore processing flow sheet comprising crushing, grinding, classification, gravity separation, and filtration circuits. The design feed rate is approximately 2,474 t/h with an annual plant feed of 13,791,909 tonnes. Equipment selection includes a Sandvik CG820 gyratory crusher, 10.4m x 5.5m autogenous grinding mill, Derrick classification screens, 432 rougher spirals, 6 cleaner hydrosizers, 192 scavenger spirals, and 4 pan filters.
