Executive Summary

The 2012 Pre-Feasibility Study outlines the recovery methods for the Reed Copper Deposit, detailing the processing plan at the Flin Flon Concentrator. Run of mine material will be transported by truck to Flin Flon, crushed to less than 150mm, and then further crushed to 20mm in a two-stage closed circuit plant. Due to the relatively low zinc grade of the Reed deposit, the plan is to produce a copper concentrate with gold and silver credits rather than a zinc concentrate.

The grinding circuit utilizes two 1,200HP open circuit rod mills in parallel and one 5,000HP ball mill operating in closed circuit with cyclones to achieve a final product size of 80% passing 70 microns. Copper and zinc minerals are recovered in sequential flotation circuits. The copper circuit includes roughing, scavenging, and cleaning stages, while the zinc circuit follows similar stages with pH adjustments and activators. Tailings from the flotation circuit are managed through a paste backfill process for the 777 Mine or a tailings management facility.

Metallurgical testing of the Reed mineralization has been ongoing since April 2011 by G & T Metallurgical Services. The concentrator is capable of producing both copper and zinc concentrates, with historical production data from 2010 showing 210,000 tonnes of copper concentrate and 120,000 tonnes of zinc concentrates. Water consumption and reagent usage have been estimated for the proposed throughput of 280 tonnes per hour.
