Executive Summary
This technical report details the recovery methods and processing infrastructure for the coal resources held by Wilson Creek Energy, LLC in the Northern Appalachian region of the USA. The report covers four primary mining sites: the Casselman underground mine, the Ankeny surface mine, the Acosta Deep underground mine, and the Hamer mine. Production from these sites requires beneficiation at a coal preparation plant to meet metallurgical coal market standards.
The core of the processing infrastructure is WCE’s newly constructed heavy-media preparation plant, which has a rated capacity of 400 tons per hour. The plant is designed to handle both coarse and fine coal using three primary circuits: a Heavy Media Cyclone circuit for material between 2” and 1mm, a Spiral circuit for 1mm to 100 mesh, and a Column Flotation circuit for material finer than 100 mesh. The plant utilizes magnetite as media for the HMC circuit, gravity separation for the spirals, and chemical reagents including diesel fuel for the flotation circuit.
Operational requirements for the preparation plant include an annual electricity consumption of approximately 305,800 KWH and a water usage rate of 85 to 90 gallons per minute. The report confirms that the coal produced at these sites is suitable for the metallurgical coal market and can be prepared using standard regional equipment configurations.
