Executive Summary
This technical report section details the conceptual process flowsheet for the Golpu treatment plant, based on the 2007 Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS). The Golpu porphyry deposit features distinct alteration domains including potassic, phyllic, argillic, and supergene zones, each with varying mineral assemblages. The process flowsheet focuses on a sulphide flotation regime to separate copper minerals from pyrite and non-sulphide gangue, with gold nominally associated with the copper and pyrite mineralisation.
Metallurgical testwork indicates the mineralization is soft with low resistance to rock breakage, suggesting a relatively low comminution power demand. A primary P80 grind size of 106 micron is proposed, with a nominal 25 micron P80 regrind of the rougher concentrate prior to cleaning. The design anticipates a contemporary rougher-cleaner flotation sequence capable of achieving final copper recovery levels from 85% to above 90%.
The conceptual flowsheet involves an underground primary crusher feeding a coarse stockpile, followed by a comminution circuit comprising a SAG mill and ball mill in closed circuit with hydrocyclones. The flotation circuit includes roughing, scavenging, and cleaning sequences, with tailings thickened prior to discharge to the tailings storage facility. Process water will be reclaimed for reuse where practically possible.
