Executive Summary
The Caserones mineral processing facility employs a conventional process flowsheet utilizing standard equipment to treat copper oxides and sulphides through two distinct routes. Run-of-mine oxide ore is processed via a conventional dump heap leach, with the resulting pregnant leach solution treated at a solvent extraction-electrowinning plant to produce copper cathodes. Sulphide ore is processed through a primary gyratory crusher and a semi-autogenous grinding-ball comminution circuit, followed by a flotation circuit to generate separate copper and molybdenum concentrates.
The processing facilities have been in commercial operation since 2014. The grinding-flotation plant has a design capacity of 4,700 t/h, historically operating at 3,800-4,000 t/h with 93% availability. The SX-EW plant has a nominal capacity of 34.5 kt/y. Historical production data indicates approximately 100–120 kt/y of copper concentrate, 1,700-2,500 t/y of molybdenum concentrate, and 25 kt/y of copper cathodes.
