Executive Summary

The El Porvenir concentrator operates as an underground mine with a processing capacity of approximately 2.2 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). The facility processes ore to produce copper, lead, and zinc concentrates, which are sold to traders and transported via road and rail to ports or refineries near Lima. The operation is currently active, utilizing conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation methods to recover the target commodities.

The processing circuit begins with primary crushing underground using a jaw crusher, followed by secondary and tertiary crushing at surface. The ore is then ground using a combination of primary and secondary ball mills. The grinding circuit includes flash flotation for lead recovery before the material enters the bulk flotation circuit. This circuit separates copper and lead from the zinc-bearing tails through a series of rougher, scavenger, and cleaner stages.

Final concentrates are dewatered using thickeners, cones, filter presses, and disc filters. Approximately 50% of the tailings are used for hydraulic backfill underground, while the remainder is deposited in a conventional Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). The process utilizes reagents such as lime, sodium cyanide, and various collectors, with water sourced from local creeks and rivers. The plant employs a dedicated team of processing and maintenance personnel to sustain operations.
