Date 2024
Region Huancavelica, Peru
Commodities Copper, Lead, Zinc

Executive Summary

The Reliquias Mine processing plant, currently operated by SMR, has a design capacity of 2,000 tpd with a phased commissioning strategy starting at 800 tpd in the first year and increasing to 1,000 tpd in the second year. The facility, previously known as Planta Concentradora José Picasso Perata, is being reactivated following a period of inactivity since 2016. The processing design focuses on flexibility to allow low investment ramp-up while utilizing existing infrastructure for sulphide mineral recovery.

The flowsheet begins with a two-stage crushing circuit involving a C-80 jaw crusher and an HP-300 cone crusher, feeding a single module ball mill (9’ x 11’) in a closed circuit with hydrocyclones. The ore is classified to a P80 of 120 μm before entering the flotation stage. Metallurgical testing indicates optimal recovery with specific flotation times for rougher, scavenger, and cleaner circuits, designed for a capacity of 1,000 tpd with a 20% overdesign factor.

Recovery is achieved through two distinct flotation circuits: a bulk circuit for copper and lead, and a separate circuit for zinc. Concentrates are dewatered using thickeners and horizontal filter presses to achieve approximately 8% to 8.5% moisture content. Final tailings are pumped to a Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) where coarse fractions are used for dam construction and fines are deposited in the basin, with water reclaimed for process use.
