Executive Summary
The KCC process plant consists of two main facilities: KTC and Luilu, located near Kolwezi. Historically, the plant treated mixed ore (predominantly oxide with disseminated sulphide) from KOV and sulphide ore from KTO through separate circuits. The new KTC circuit processes mixed ore from KOV OP and Mashambe East OP to produce a sulphide prefloat concentrate and oxide tailings, which are pumped to Luilu. Sulphide ore from KTO continues in a separate circuit.
The WOL Project design aims to utilize existing KCC facilities to produce 300 ktpa of copper cathode metal and 30 ktpa of cobalt hydroxide cake. Expansion projects are underway to increase cobalt production capacity to 40 ktpa and construct a sulfur burning acid plant to supply full sulfuric acid requirements.
