Executive Summary
This section of the NI 43-101 Technical Report details the recovery methods employed at the San Martin Mill. The facility utilizes a conventional cyanidation process combined with the Merrill Crowe recovery method. The mill has a rated capacity of 1,100 tpd, though current operations average around 650 tpd based on data from April 2017 to April 2024. During this period, the mill achieved average recoveries of 86% for gold and 55% for silver.
Metallurgical research is ongoing to improve gold and silver recovery, reduce process time, and lower costs. The current treatment time has been optimized to 35 hours through the addition of oxygen in the grinding area, which has reduced cyanide consumption. Recent tests have achieved 93% gold extraction using a new reagent mixture, pending validation. Additionally, the smelting area has been optimized to produce doré bars with 99.3% purity, reducing flux and crucible consumption.
The ore presents challenges due to refractoriness caused by carbonaceous material in some areas, with current extractions at 82% in those zones. A tailings filtration plant installed in 2005 supports dry handling and stacking, and the tailings dam is being reinforced to higher standards.
