Recent tests have achieved 93% gold extraction using a new reagent mixture, pending validation. Additionally, the smelting area has been optimized to produce doré bars with 99.3% purity, reducing flux and crucible consumption.
The ore presents challenges due to refractoriness caused by carbonaceous material in some areas, with current extractions at 82% in those zones. A tailings filtration plant installed in 2005 supports dry handling and stacking, and the tailings dam is being reinforced to higher standards.
