Executive Summary

The Old Nic Mine processing plant is designed to achieve an overall gold recovery rate of 90%, utilizing a combination of gravity concentration and carbon-in-pulp (CIP) leaching. Approximately 70% of the gold is recovered as free gold in gravity concentrators, specifically Knelson concentrators and James Tables, while the remaining gold is processed through a conventional CIP circuit. This hybrid approach targets the high proportion of free-milling gold (60-70%) found in the Old Nic ore.

The crushing and milling circuit consists of a primary 10”x 21” jaw crusher feeding an 8mm screen, with oversize material recirculated to a secondary crusher. The plant operates two 5’dia x 6’ ball mills in parallel to handle a capacity of 3,750 tons per month. Classification is managed via trammels and screens, with cyclones controlling the grind size before the leaching circuit. The CIP plant features four leach agitation tanks followed by four absorption tanks.

Infrastructure support relies on the national power grid (ZESA), which has faced reliability issues but was scheduled for continuous power arrangements from November 2012. Water requirements are met through lower levels of current workings and local boreholes. The mine is currently in an operating status, with production managed on a two-shift basis handling 2,500 tons per month.
